“Steve Kaposi was an excellent choice as builder for our Caves Beach house renovation. The project was a success in terms of time, cost and quality. Above all we enjoyed working with Steve his team and the subcontractors who all went above and beyond to accommodate Dave and Tania who occupied the house during the renovation.
Steve's original quote was accurate and comprehensive. This demonstrated strong estimating skill and an awareness of competitive rates in the market. The project was delivered on budget, which is an impressive outcome given the extent of unforeseen works that were encountered. Steve resolved the roof framing (improving on the engineer’s solution) and also navigated a fairly complex sewer extension that was required to accommodate 2 new bathrooms (and the upgrade of an existing). Steve delivered all the heavy demolition, structural and in-ground works quickly and effectively which are typically high risk activities prone to cost blow out. It was comforting to get the project off on a good foot in this regard and the remaining fitout works progressed with ease.
Steve has a network of quality subbies who are reliable and skillful. The quality of detailing and finishing speaks for itself, well resolved, coordinated and accurate. We would welcome any potential clients of Steve’s to visit. This is impressive given we built from DA documents that have limited construction detailing. It became evident that Steve has years of experience delivering projects of much greater complexity then our project.
In terms of value, it must be emphasized that Steve is committed to delivering value to the client throughout the project. Steve managed his crew of carpenters and labourers across a couple of sites simultaneously so they remained productive at all times. He pulled in some day labour here and there to keep the job moving. Steve set up and executed a number of concrete pours extremely well minimizing costly plant and equipment costs. Another key factor to Steve’s value proposition is his capability and willingness to take on trade work that could otherwise be subcontracted. Steve took on some of the dry wall sheeting, timber flooring, shower screens and some cabinet making (to name a few), and passed savings to the client.
On reflection, I would not hesitate for a moment in recommending Steve Kaposi who has managed all facets of our renovation project including all BCA compliance matters in the lead up to obtaining the occupancy certificate.”
